Woking Removals Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement is made by Woking Removals in respect of the financial year ending 31 March and sets out the steps we are taking to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our business operations and supply chains. As a responsible removals and relocation provider, we recognise our duty to act ethically, transparently and with integrity in all our business relationships.
Modern slavery is a serious crime and a gross violation of fundamental human rights. It can take many forms, including forced labour, servitude, human trafficking, and child labour. Woking Removals is committed to playing its part in identifying, preventing, and addressing these risks.
Our Zero-Tolerance Policy
Woking Removals operates a strict zero-tolerance policy towards modern slavery and human trafficking. This policy applies to all aspects of our business, including our own employees, temporary staff, contractors, and any third parties who provide goods or services to us.
We expect everyone working with or on behalf of Woking Removals to uphold the highest standards of human rights and labour practices. Any breach or suspected breach of this policy will be treated seriously. Where appropriate, we will terminate relationships with individuals or organisations that do not uphold these standards, and we will report concerns to the relevant authorities where required.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Woking Removals provides domestic and commercial removals and associated services. Our operations rely on a range of suppliers, including vehicle providers, fuel suppliers, equipment and packing materials suppliers, storage facilities, maintenance contractors and labour agencies.
We recognise that certain parts of our supply chain may present higher risks of modern slavery, particularly where there is use of lower-skilled labour, subcontracted services or international sourcing of goods. We are therefore committed to taking proportionate and practical steps to understand and manage those risks.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We are developing and implementing supplier standards that clearly communicate our expectations on modern slavery and human rights. New and existing suppliers are expected to confirm that they comply with all relevant labour, employment, and human rights legislation in the countries in which they operate, and that they do not tolerate modern slavery in their own supply chains.
Where appropriate, we conduct risk-based audits and reviews of selected suppliers. These may include requesting documentation on employment practices, health and safety procedures, right-to-work checks and recruitment methods. We reserve the right to visit suppliers and to request additional evidence where we consider the risk of modern slavery to be higher.
If a supplier is found to be in breach of our standards, we will work with them to agree corrective actions and a clear timeline for improvement. If meaningful change is not achieved, we may suspend or end the commercial relationship.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
Woking Removals encourages all employees, workers, suppliers and other stakeholders to speak up if they have any concerns about modern slavery or unethical labour practices connected with our business or supply chains.
Concerns can be raised with line managers or senior management in confidence. We are committed to ensuring that no one who raises a concern in good faith will suffer any form of retaliation or detrimental treatment as a result. All reports will be taken seriously, reviewed promptly and, where necessary, investigated thoroughly.
Where appropriate and legally required, we will refer matters to relevant external bodies or authorities. We will maintain confidentiality to the greatest extent possible while ensuring that issues are properly addressed.
Training, Awareness and Continuous Improvement
We are working to increase awareness of modern slavery risks among our staff, particularly those involved in recruitment, procurement and contract management. Employees will receive guidance on recognising signs of exploitation and on how to respond if they suspect that someone may be a victim of modern slavery.
We aim to continuously improve our processes and procedures to reduce the risk of modern slavery within our operations. This includes reviewing how we engage temporary labour, how we select and monitor suppliers, and how we incorporate ethical considerations into our commercial decisions.
Annual Review and Approval
This Modern Slavery Statement will be reviewed at least annually to ensure it remains accurate, relevant and aligned with the evolving legal landscape and best practice. The review will consider any incidents, concerns, audit findings and feedback received over the year, as well as changes in our business activities or supply chain structure.
Following each review, we will update our policies and processes as required and provide further training or guidance to staff and suppliers where necessary. This statement has been approved by the leadership of Woking Removals, who retain overall responsibility for ensuring that the measures described are effectively implemented and monitored across the business.
